The year is 2147. Over a century from now, a new golden age of space exploration has begun. Galvanized by industrial innovation, and highlighted by a sprawling space station “city”, humankind’s presence among the stars has never been more pronounced. And now a new frontier has emerged.
Twenty-two light years from Earth, our home planet’s “twin” has been found. A pastoral sanctuary commonly known as “Exodus”, the world is the first known outside of our own that’s capable of sustaining human life—and waits a mere 37-year voyage away. Countless space-faring corporations plot countless missions, vying to pioneer to this brave new world, competing for the best tactics, the best technology—and the best crew. Enter the LightSpeed Pioneers-- an all-intensive training program dedicated to developing the ideal crews for this decades-long voyage, which holds its hopeful cadets to an unprecedented set of criteria: be brilliant, ingenious, daring—and under the age of 21. But from the shadows of Earth and beyond, a new threat has emerged. The Homesteaders, a group opposed to all interstellar colonization, plots to derail the Pioneers program and crash Centauri Squad’s dreams back down to Earth. Can the LightSpeed Pioneers run the gauntlet between simulated training and real-world peril? Young audiences will find plenty of excitement-- and plenty to learn-- in this STEM (science, technology, engineering & math) focused series. |
